Overview

Everything the app stores stays on your device. No data is sent to any server operated by the developer. The app has no analytics, no advertising, and no user accounts.

YJP ("the app") is a read-only browser for Yahoo Japan Auctions. This policy explains what data the app stores, where it stays, and what leaves your device.

Data Stored on Your Device

The following data is stored locally and never transmitted to the developer:

You can clear cached images and search history at any time from Settings → Clear Cache and Settings → Clear History.

Network Requests

The app makes network requests to the following third-party services only:

Yahoo Japan Auctions (auctions.yahoo.co.jp and related subdomains) All auction listings, search results, images, and item details are fetched directly from Yahoo Japan's publicly accessible website — the same pages visible in a web browser. The app does not log in, does not submit bids, and does not modify any data on Yahoo's servers.

Exchange rate API (api.exchangerate-api.com) The app fetches the current USD/JPY exchange rate to display prices in your local currency. This is a one-way, unauthenticated request containing no personal information.

Apple Translation (iOS 18+) If you use the search translation feature, queries are processed using Apple's on-device or server-side translation, subject to Apple's privacy policy. The app does not receive or store translation responses beyond the current session.

Data Not Collected

No name, email address, or contact information
No device identifiers (IDFA, IDFV, or similar)
No location data
No crash reports or analytics
No advertising data
No purchase history or payment information

Push Notifications

If you enable notifications, the app schedules them locally on your device using iOS's notification framework. No notification content is transmitted through the developer's servers. Notification delivery is handled entirely by iOS.

Third-Party Proxy Bidding Services

The app provides links to third-party proxy bidding services (such as Buyee, Zenmarket, and FromJapan) as a convenience. Tapping those links opens the respective service in Safari. Any account creation, payment, or transaction you conduct with those services is solely between you and them. The developer has no access to your activity on those services and is not responsible for their privacy practices.

App Store and TestFlight

If you download the app from the App Store or TestFlight, Apple may collect certain data as described in Apple's privacy policy. The developer does not receive individual user data from Apple beyond aggregate, anonymized App Store analytics (which you can opt out of in iOS Settings).

Children's Privacy

The app displays publicly available commercial auction listings and is rated 4+. It does not knowingly collect any information from children or anyone else.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
